Modern mining farms operating in the coin mining mode "Ether" are expensive. If you stop such a farm for even a short time, then the miner may simply not pay back his farm. But the operation of the farm in non-stop mode can lead to one – video cards can overheat and then burn out. A financial loss can have a significant impact. In this case, it is better not to forget to regularly carry out all the necessary preventive work in relation to mining farms.
First you need to stop the farm completely. Next, use a vacuum cleaner equipped with reverse blowing, thanks to which the room dust is alternately blown off the video cards. For such an operation, it takes barely more than 5-10 minutes, after which the farm turns on again. If there is no time, then you can use the factory settings of the video cards and set the cooling capacity of the video cards to 100 percent. The noise pressure will be high enough, but the video cards will be able to clean properly.
Once a month, it is recommended to stop the farm for an hour to wipe the blades of the video card fans with a damp cloth. The room dust is layered and then becomes strong on the fan blades, which interferes with the convection air flows. Due to this, there is a lack of cooling of video cards. But if you wipe the fan blades with a damp rag, and blow the cooling radiators with compressed air, the video cards will not heat up at all.
Most modern video cards work at the expense of additional power. If there is a power surge, they risk easily burning out. In this case, it is reasonable to connect mining farm to UPS with increased power. For example, if the farm has a power consumption of up to 1 kW, then the purchase of a UPS with a capacity of at least 1200 VA will guarantee a stable power supply to the entire computer.
In a situation where the voltage is constantly "jumping" up and down, it is better to use modern voltage stabilizers, divided into household or semi-industrial, to connect the farm. The latter will be considered the best a priori, since they have a power of up to 5-6 kW, and almost everything can be connected to such voltage stabilizers, if necessary, from the refrigerator to the air conditioner. The stabilizers, depending on the incoming voltage, are automatically connected to one or the other winding of their own transformer and the output is constantly guaranteed reference 220 V, which is necessary for any powerful mining farm.
